The JVES LittleBigB is a low cost, high performance, data logger designed especially for battery monitoring applications and specifically for warranty applications.
The LittleBigB measures the Battery voltage, current and temperature every 62.5mSec and loges the averages into two memory spaces:
- Every minute memory space for standard view.
- Every second memory space for fine view.
• Non-intrusive current measurement using Hall effect device.
• Temperature compensated voltage measurment.
• The LittleBigB is equipped with LCD display and a keypad for quick reference.
• All data is stored on a standard, removable 2Gbyte SD card. No periodic downloading is required, as a 2GBytes SD flash card can hold data for over 6 years of log.
• In addition to the standard continues log, the LittleBigB employ an extensive Events Logger. The Events
Logger records all exceptions as per the following list:
- Over load current
- Over charge current
- Over voltage
- Under voltage
- Over temperature low
- Over temperature high
- Under capacity
- Over charge
The Events Logger enables quick jump to problem areas in the logged data without having to go through month and years of data. Up to 100 events can be logged
• Once an event has been registered, The LittleBigB will announce it the "ATTENTION" sign in the display. This prevents download when not necessary.
• The LittleBigB reports alarm condition via a potential free alarm output, for real time monitoring.
• JVES offers a SD Flash reader with extensive PC application making it easy to sift through and graphically display the loads of data.
• Using the optional communication port, the LittleBigB can be used to monitor the battery condition remotely at real time.
• Low current consumption less then 10mA average.

Sensors description
Voltage sensor – The voltage is read directly form the feed line using a voltage divider.
Current sensor – The LittleBigB uses a Hole effect device in order to measure the current.
The unit comes with two options of current sensor:
• Internal current sensor – The battery current is connected via the bus bar, which runs through the unit. The LEM HASS series of current transducers is used.
• External current sensor - The LEM HTFS series of sensors current transducers is used as the external current sensor. A 500mm extension cable between the LittleBigB and the current transducer is provided.
Temperature sensor – The Analogue Devices TEMP36 is used to sense the battery temperature. These are highly accurate (typically +/-1oC @ 25 oC) and linear (typically +/-0.5oC) devices.
